Education Department

The CBTU Education Department is pleased to announce 3 new workshops available to unions, community organizations and their members.

The History of Human Rights in Canada (3hrs)

Using relatable examples of human rights gains in Canada, we will explore the history of human rights and how to combat violations of our human rights in the workplace.

We will review the required elements of a human rights complaint and discuss remedies to improve conditions in our workplaces and unions.

Environmental Racism – Green is not White (3hrs)

The workshop will explore the problem of environmental racism, analyzing it within the scope of pressing environmental and climate change issues.

The workshop brings cases of environmental racism closer to home by providing local examples and to give participants the tools to identify environmental injustices in their own homes, communities, and workplaces.

Politics For The Working Class (1 day)

Let’s talk about why Unions are involved in politics. Let’s talk about whether politics is really as important as many people says it is.

We are affected by decisions of many levels of government as workers, voters and consumers. Politics For The Working Class provides an opportunity for workers to think seriously about the kind of government we want and the kind of society we want to build together.
