CBTU GMM - October 3, 2016

Dear members,

In accordance with our current CBTU Chapter bylaws, we will be holding the last of three separate General Membership Meetings on October 3, 2016 to hold 3 consecutive votes on proposed changes to our Chapter bylaws (https://assets.nationbuilder.com/cbtuontario/pages/213/attachments/original/1656428266/Motion-to-Change-CBTU-Bylaws.pdf?1656428266). The first meeting took place in August in Montreal, and the second took place in Ottawa in September. The motion was supported at both meetings. Please take time to read through the motion that shall be voted on.

The third GMM shall take place at the OFL on October 3,15 Gervais Drive, North York, ON, M3C 3S2. If the proposed bylaw change is passed at all three meetings, they shall take effect at the end of the meeting. The new Executive Board positions would then be elected at the November 14th annual meeting, also in Toronto.

We hope to see you at the meetings!

Later is Too Late: Act now to confront environmental racism on Earth Day!

April 22nd, 2025 is Earth Day. The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, Ontario Canada (CBTU), the Enrich Project and the Toronto Environmental Alliance call upon labour and the community to reconnect with and build a relationship to the earth. Why? It’s simple – the extraordinary benefits of time spent outdoors should be available to all. Outdoors, is a great big, beautiful earth, where children and adults can learn about themselves through the experience of exploring in nature. One cannot love what one doesn’t know. If we want children to become adults who will care for and protect the earth, we must encourage a strong relationship with the natural world.
