It’s now been one month since the most tragic events to hit my beautiful island of Haiti. All Haitians in the world are mourning. Even though I was not born or even raised there, Haiti flows in my veins and in my heart. The last month has been hard for me knowing that I was there, on vacation for the holidays, 2 weeks prior to the events and knowing that I’ve lost friends, family members and people that I will never be able to see again. However, I console myself by knowing that the last memories of them were joyful.

The CBTU is hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday May 9 2010 from 11am to 2pm at the OFL 15 Gervais Drive lower level. Tickets are $15.00 per person. Brunch will satisfy your soul and tummy, with delights such as hash browns ,eggs , sausages, bacon (chicken or turkey), muffins croissants, and assorted beverages. Unfortunately, the CBTU New Year's Eve Gala had to be cancelled due to a low response. We would like to thank those that showed their support to the event, and hope to celebrate with all members in the new year.
The CBTU Awards Dinner and Dance held November 14th in Toronto was a tremendous success. Keynote speaker, Christopher Wilson from PSAC, made a riviting speech to the crowd entitled " The Party is Over", speaking to his vision of the role of the labour movement with respect to community building.
Tonight, Saturday November 14, the CBTU will hold its 13th annual Awards Dinner Dance at La Villa Banquet Hall. Single tickets cost $75.00, tables of 8 cost 600$. We hope to see you there!
